2024 Olympic football: How men's and women's teams fit to advance to the knockout stage.

2024 Olympic football: How men's and women's teams fit to advance to the knockout stage.

Today is the last round of matches for the men's and women's group stages at the 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris.

Men will play their final group match on Tuesday, while ladies will play their own game the next day, which is Wednesday.

Thirteen teams compete for the final six spots in the men's division to advance to the quarterfinals alongside Japan and Spain.

In contrast, after winning their two group matches, Spain and the United States of America advanced to the knockout stages for the women's competition.

The top two teams in each women's division will advance, along with the top two third-place teams. In the men's competition, the top two teams advanced to the quarterfinals.

Men (Group A)

France will either win or draw to qualify. If the USA wins against Guinea as well, then even a loss will carry them through. In that scenario, the three teams with six points will need to be separated by goal differential.

For New Zealand to advance, their results must surpass those of the United States. If one of them wins, the group will be determined by goal differential.

Tuesday, July 30

Group A: France vs. New Zealand, Stade de Marseille, kickoff at 6 p.m.

USA vs Guinea in Group A, Saint-Etienne's Stade Geoffroy-Guichard, kickoff at 6:00 p.m.

Group B

To guarantee a spot in the final eight, Ukraine must prevail. The goal differential is taken into consideration if both group matches result in a draw.

Argentina will either win or draw to qualify.

Morocco must either win or draw in order to advance unless the two games are drawn, in which case the goal differential will be considered.

If Iraq were to go to the quarterfinals, they have to win.

Tuesday, July 30

Argentina vs. Ukraine in Group B at Stade de Lyon, kickoff at 4 p.m.

Group B: Morocco vs. Iraq, 4 p.m. kickoff at Stade de Nice

Group C

Dominican Republic needs to win and pray that Egypt loses badly so that the second place in the group will be determined by goal differential.

Spain tops the group with a win or a draw, and they have already qualified for the round of eight.

Egypt was scheduled to play in the quarterfinals, however, if they lost and the Dominican Republic defeated Uzbekistan, they would be eliminated on goal differential.

Tuesday, July 30

Group C: Park des Princes in Paris, Dominican Republic vs. Uzbekistan, kickoff at 2:00 p.m.

Group C: 2 p.m. kickoff at Stade de Bordeaux between Spain and Egypt

Group D

Israel needs to prevail and hope that the match between Mali and Paraguay ends in a tie. In the event that the African team wins, goal differential will be taken into consideration.

Japan has already reserved a spot for the knockout stage.

Paraguay will advance with a victory. A draw would be sufficient unless Israel defeated Japan.

For Mali to have any hope of moving forward, they need to win all three points. In such a situation, should Israel win, the two teams' fates would be determined by goal differential.

Tuesday, July 30

Israel vs. Japan in Group D, Nantes' Stade de la Beaujoire, kickoff at 8 p.m.

Group D: 8 p.m. kickoff in Paris's Parc des Princes between Paraguay and Mali

Women ( Group A)

Colombia: Play a draw against Canada to advance to the top two.

With a win or draw against New Zealand AND a draw or defeat against Colombia, France can move up to the top two.

Canada can advance to the top two with a victory over Colombia AND a draw or defeat against France for New Zealand.

New Zealand: Win against France to move up to the top two, and if Canada defeats Colombia, then they advance. PLUS if they end up with a greater goal differential

Wednesday, July 31st

Group A: France vs. New Zealand, Stade de Lyon, kicking off at 8:00 p.m.

Colombia vs. Canada in Group A, Stade de Nice, kickoff at 8 p.m.

Group B

USA: After drawing with Australia, they advanced to the quarterfinals and won their group.

Germany: Get into the top two with a victory or tie against Zambia AND a draw or defeat against the United States.

Australia: Win/draw against the United States AND Germany's loss/draw against Zambia to secure a spot in the top two.

Zambia: Win against Germany to jump up to the top two, and if Australia loses against the United States and they finish with a greater goal differential

Wednesday, July 31st

Australia vs. USA in Group B at Stade de Marseille, kickoff at 6 p.m.

Germany vs. Zambia in Saint-Etienne's Stade Geoffroy-Guichard, with a 6:00 p.m. kickoff

Group C

Spain has already advanced to the quarterfinals. They will advance as group champions if they draw with Brazil.

Japan may move up to the top two with a win or draw against Nigeria AND a draw or defeat against Spain for Brazil.

Brazil: If you win against Spain AND Japan draws or loses to Nigeria, you'll go to the top two.

Nigeria can secure a spot in the top two if they defeat Japan, Brazil loses to Spain, and they end with a superior goal differential.

Wednesday, July 31st

Brazil vs. Spain in Group C at Stade de Bordeaux, kickoff at 4 p.m.

Japan vs. Nigeria in Group C at Nantes' Stade de la Beaujoire, kickoff at 4 p.m.
